July's Mailing
Content
Another great mailing where we cleaned out the cupboards so will be time to restock we will need toiletries as well as food/snack items for the August 19 mailing.
We were blessed to share the evening with a group from Quilts of Valor, who presented 2 beautiful Quilts to 2 veterans from the TRN club. Very deserving and emotional. Great turn out of volunteers and we powered thru the packing and commenced eating ( Hotdog Potluck) by 6:45.
Alice was able to report on the names to whom we were sending and share that the postage increase of 3.15 per box affected this month's mailing, thus our 40 boxes had a postal alone cost of $1034.00. Our July postage was paid in full by Linda M, and additional donations were received from Lynn, and Kim C. The donation box at BRC contributed to the cause as it and the kind members there do every month.
The generosity of friends and volunteers is often overwhelming. It’s important to say thank you, each volunteer, donator, participant make what we do possible. Especially enjoy when we are visited by longtime friends, some of which are unable to help pack, but certainly brighten the evening with their presence, that’s you Juanita, our lovely friend.
We don’t know how many troops are actually out there, and certainly we only are reaching a small percentage of them, but similar projects around the country doing similar mailings emphasis how, “many hand make the load light. “
Your help at the mailings, through donations, packing, or providing names of deployed service members make the project work, Thank you one and all.
